Everybody has a breaking point. I can only be sure that I have a boiling point and it has been reached right about now. Thank Goodness it’ll all be over in less than 24 hours. It was quite possibly the year of the most obliterated emotions, when my personal favorites crumbled down and Oscar statistics eluded each and every Guild membership vote. A phenomenon that shall remain in Academy Awards history as “The Argo Effect”. You can’t stop what’s coming; From Telluride to Cesar Awards it’s Argo, Argo and ARGO. No Weinstein of this world can turn this boat back; Here’s to the guy (see: movie mogul) that won two years in a row with The Kings Speech and The Artist, then managed to kill two colossal names such as P.T. Anderson and Q. Tarantino only to raise the Silver Linings Playbook flag which ended up like a sympathy for mentally ill manifesto all the way to the White House. Far- fetched campaigning, coming off as too little-too late. Lincoln was not saved by Bill Clinton at the Golden Globes and it plainly won’t make it once again at the 85th Oscars, despite D.D. Lewis’s secured victory. If there’s one movie with big momentum right now, it’s Amour by M. Haneke. Expect it pulling off a “The Pianist” and yes, you read it here first.
